Teaching neurobiology with the Alzheimer's case

In this workshop, you will try out various materials from the Alzheimer's case, which was developed as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between science and schools at RPTU Kaiserslautern to bring research on a socially relevant topic into schools. The case contains a collection of various materials (3D brain models based on original MRI data, ready-made preparations of mouse brain slices, films) and an accompanying book (preparation instructions, worksheets, teaching suggestions, didactic and methodological tips) for practice-oriented teaching.

We will present a teaching concept for the key topic 5 "Information processing in living organisms" of the new secondary school curriculum, which uses the context of Alzheimer's disease to teach both the anatomical and physiological basics of neurobiology in a practice-oriented way.
