Biology at RPTU

Study & Teaching

Welcome to the Department of Biology!

The biology program at RPTU is essentially divided into two tracks: academic studies and teacher education.

The academic track begins with the undergraduate bachelor’s program in Molecular Biology (Bachelor of Science) and continues on to the English-language master’s program Biology (Master of Science), which offers five areas of specialization:

  • Microbial and Plant Biotechnology (MPBiotec)
  • Molecular Cell Biology (MCB)
  • Molecular and Medical Neuroscience (Neuro)
  • Ecology (Eco)
  • Bioinformatics (Bioinf).

The second track of study includes the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs (Bachelor and Master of Education) for the biology teacher education at various types of schools.

On the following pages, you will find information on the full range of degree programs offered by the Department of Biology. Prospective students as well as currently enrolled students can use study plans, module handbooks, and examination regulations to gain an overview of the structure, organization, and procedures of the various degree programs. Detailed information on the course offerings—such as times, locations, and course content—is available via the links to the KIS Course Catalog and the department’s research groups.

To help you gain a clear overview of your options before you begin your studies and to ensure you stay on track throughout your academic career, we also offer individual academic advising sessions.
