Guidelines according to the old doctoral regulations

Deadlines to be observed:

  • Submission of documents to the Dean's Office > 10 days before the next Faculty Council meeting

  • 4 printed copies of the dissertation - each copy must include
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Summary of max. 1 page
  • Additional summary of max. 1 page in English, if dissertation in English
  • Proof of payment of the doctoral fee paid
  • Master's certificate/certificate
  • separately digital (via SeaFile): 1) dissertation, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) summary
  • for cumulative doctorates: Consent of the supervisor to the cumulative dissertation

Expert opinion

The dissertation copies are sent to the examiners after submission of the dissertation to the Dean's Office.

Deadlines:

  • 4 weeks (reviews 1 and 2)
  • possibly 4 additional weeks for the 3rd report

Once all reviews have been submitted to the Dean's Office, the doctoral candidate will receive a grade notification.

 

Inspection

Period: 2 weeks during the lecture period, 4 weeks during the lecture-free period

Authorized to inspect the reports:

  • All professors and private lecturers in the department
  • Members of the faculty council

Authorized to inspect the dissertation:

  • All members of the department

 

Academic debate

Date:

  • Determined in consultation between the doctoral committee and the doctoral candidate
  • Coordination of time/room booking with the Dean's Office
  • Subsequent dispatch of inspection date and invitation

Examination:

  • in German (English only on request)
  • Duration of the presentation: 30 min
  • Duration of the subsequent examination: 30-60 min

Submission of the dissertation to the University Library within one year:

  • following publication options:
    • 40 copies
    • 5 copies if the publication is in a journal
    • 5 copies if disseminated via the book trade
    • 5 copies + 40 additional copies as microfiche
    • 5 copies + electronic publication(KLUEDO )
  • ATTENTION: The title page of the library copies contains different information than the peer-reviewed version(sample: title page 2)!
  • The title page must be submitted to the Dean's Office before submission to the University Library.

The doctoral procedure is completed with the award of the certificate. Only then may the doctoral degree be awarded.

  • Cumulative dissertation: Confirmation that the essential parts of the dissertation have been published |Form 2.1.|
  • Confirmation from the library (sent directly to the Dean's Office)
