In Rhineland-Palatinate, the subject of biology can be chosen in the 1st state examination in accordance with the state ordinance on the first state examination for the teaching profession at secondary schools together with the subjects of chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, social sciences and sport. Chemistry is recommended as a 2nd subject.
The standard period of study is 6 semesters. The course is divided into a foundation course (3 semesters, without intermediate examination) and the subsequent main course (3 semesters, completion of 1st state examination).
Main studies
Theoretical and practical expansion and deepening of knowledge in the various biological areas takes place here. To this end, a large number of advanced practical courses, special practical courses, lectures, seminars and excursions are offered, from which the students can choose the courses for the most part.
