Teaching degree at vocational schools

Until the introduction of the reformed teacher training program in winter semester 07/08, the following applied:

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the subject Biology can only be studied as a minor subject in the 1st state examination in accordance with the state ordinance on the first state examination for the teaching profession at vocational schools. Major subjects can be:

  • Civil engineering
  • electrical engineering
  • Wood technology
  • mechanical engineering

The standard period of study is 4 semesters and should be completed in consecutive semesters. It ends with the 1st state examination.

In the first two semesters, the theoretical foundations, general principles and experimental techniques of biology are covered in the biology courses. Together with the courses in the supplementary subject of chemistry, these courses offer the opportunity to acquire a minimum level of knowledge for the following semesters. Here (3rd and 4th semester), theoretical and practical expansion and consolidation in various areas of biology takes place.
