Teaching at grammar schools

Until the introduction of the reformed teacher training program in winter semester 07/08, the following applied:

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the subject biology can be chosen in the 1st state examination in accordance with the state ordinance on the first state examination for the teaching profession at grammar schools together with the subjects chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, social sciences and sport. Chemistry is recommended as a 2nd subject.

The standard period of study is 9 semesters. The course is divided into a foundation course (4 semesters, completion of intermediate examination) and the subsequent main course (5 semesters, completion of 1st state examination).


Main studies

Theoretical and practical expansion and deepening of knowledge in the various biological sub-areas takes place. To this end, a large number of advanced practical courses, special practical courses, lectures, seminars and excursions are offered, from which students can choose the majority of courses.
