Mental Health

Welcome to the Mental Healt Unit of the Biology Student Council!

Together for your mental health

Exam stress, problems in the social environment, catastrophes, fears...

Some of these factors, but also many more, are part of students' everyday lives and have an impact on their mental health.

Here at the Biology Student Council, we want to pay more attention to the topic of mental health and have set up a special contact point for students. Here you can turn to us in confidence in the event of personal crises, stress and mental health problems.

We can offer the following support, for example:

1. finding a place in therapy: Finding a place in therapy can sometimes be a big challenge. We can therefore help you to find a therapist and make an initial appointment.

2. problems during your studies: If you are overwhelmed during your studies or do not know how to plan your semester, we can help you with our experience and help you plan your studies or point you to the appropriate counseling centers.

3. personal discussions: Sometimes you just need someone to listen to you who is understanding and doesn't make judgments. The members of the Mental Health Department are happy to offer you a personal conversation. Here you can talk openly about your thoughts and feelings and we can work out solutions together.

4. anonymous e-mail exchange: If you prefer to communicate in writing or prefer anonymity, we offer you the opportunity to contact us by e-mail. Your concerns will be treated confidentially and you can be sure that we will respect your privacy.

In order to provide you with the best possible support, some of us have completed Mental Health First Aid training, but everyone else can also support you with previous knowledge and personal experience in the field of mental health. Topics that are particularly close to our hearts include depression, weltschmerz, dystopia, social phobia and exam anxiety. In general, it is important to us to emphasize the importance of mental health during studies and at the same time to promote the normalization of mental health problems among students of all genders.

You can find further offers at RPTU as well as external offers on the following website First aid during your studies. You will find help on the following topics, among others:

  • Help with exam problems
  • Psychosocial support
  • Advice on organizing your studies and legal and financial issues
  • Studying with a child
  • Studying with disabilities
  • Tips for studying on a budget
  • Help with discrimination and sexualized violence
