Practical course in subject didactics I

Objectives and content of the practical course in subject didactics I

In the practical course, the theoretical knowledge from the lecture and seminar is to be deepened by independently implementing the topics provided in the course plan with experiments in the context of a simulated lesson. By analyzing the subject-specific didactic objectives of individual experiments, the general ability to convey subject-specific content in combination with subject-specific working methods at student level should be conveyed. This is achieved through independent planning, preparation and implementation of

  • student experiments and exercises
  • the use of computer-supported learning and test environments
  • demonstration experiments (in exceptional cases)

by or with the students while providing various proofs of performance under certain requirements. Practical student exercises should therefore be integrated into learning units and carried out by all students.

Ideally, the knowledge acquired should enable students to adapt the content of the curriculum to given teaching situations by modifying known experiments or designing new experiments.

As part of the preparation of these experiments, further didactic aspects can be deepened, such as

  • Planning and evaluation of lessons
  • choice of media
  • Safety in biology lessons
  • Didactic reduction and reconstruction
  • Educational standards and curricula

The experiments considered and the planning carried out can form a basis for a pool of experiments for use in later lessons. Method protocols, the simulated pupils gain practical experience in the implementation of teaching concepts and reflect on these.

Requirements and assessments (in the practical course)

For successful participation, a written lesson plan in the form of a teaching sample (for a 45-minute biology lesson) must be prepared. The prescribed form for this can be found in the instructions for preparing a draft lesson plan of the Studienseminar KL. This lesson outline is part of the basics to be examined in the second partial module examination, which takes place as an "oral examination" at the end of the summer semester.
Compliance with certain organizational specifications and requirements is necessary for the recognition of the partial certificates of achievement.
