Systems Plant Metabolism

Our overreaching aim is to gain deep systems-level understanding of photosynthetic metabolism in algae, and the role it plays in stirring photosynthesis efficiency and growth. To address these goals, we apply a set of tools, including state-of-the-art flux-metabolomics, modelling, molecular biology and physiology. We study these aspects in model and non-model organisms (like the extremophile desert alga Chlorella ohadii), and translate the knowledge gained through synthetic biology of model algae (like Chlamydomonas) and plants (like Arabidopsis and Camelina) focusing on metabolic engineering.
