Since the Ministry of Environment, Qatar wants to arrange a monitoring of the protistan communities at the offshore regions around the peninsula of Qatar (14 stations), we were invited to take water samples to investigate the community at genomic- and morphologic level. Therefor, the samples were taken to the Biotechnology Center in Doha and were filtered. After finishing the complete sample stations the filters will be send to our lab in Kaiserslautern. DNA/RNA extraction, amplification, Next Generation Sequencing and phylogenetic analyses will be performed in the next three months.

It was a nice experience to work in a different part of the world. Scientific work supports the international understanding of people.
