WS5: Insights into brain anatomy and the neuropathology of Alzheimer's disease
Alzheimer's disease is the most common dementia. Before mental impairment becomes apparent in Alzheimer's patients, so-called pathological changes already occur in the brain. These changes include deposits of certain proteins that aggregate in the brain in a characteristic manner. This workshop will provide background information on the development and effects of these protein aggregates. In addition, the protein aggregates can be viewed directly under the microscope. In addition, nerve cells will be microscoped and insights into the anatomy of the brain will be given using the example of pig brains and 3D models of the human brain.
